This Craft for kids Diploma program for Educators is to introduce students to the theory and practice of TEACHING CRAFT FOR KIDS AND TEENS.

There is no doubt that arts and crafts are fun activities for kids. Students will use a variety of Craft Techniques to make artworks.

Students will use the formal elements and principles of two-dimensional design including line, shape, implied volume, light and shade, texture and color to make art and craft projects.

Students will use the terminology needed to discuss various types, techniques, and concepts of art and craft and put his vocabulary into a historical context.

Students will plan a path utilizing problem-solving steps, including stating initial intentions, defining and analyzing the problem and clarifying the main issues and evaluating the success of the work.

Students will use a different type of art tools and techniques to create Art and Craft projects

Students will present their completed artwork in a professional manner.

Students will analyze the visual elements and principles of design employed within the visual arts throughout history.

Students will differentiate among various media art and craft techniques used by artists.

Students will analyze the motivation of individual artists and how art expresses important aspects of time and culture.

Payment method

Students pay for courses before the start of each quarter. If your fees are not paid one week prior to the course start, you will have a hold placed on your account and therefore will not be able to continue the course.

Course projects and final course test

  After studying the materials of each course, such as articles, video tutorials, audio podcasts and successfully completing practical projects, each student must pass a theoretical multiple-choice test.

Students suppose to achieve a minimum of 65% to pass the course test.

The final diploma program exam

Students  have to take all 12 courses to get a Diploma.

The final diploma program exam is an open-book, multiple-choice test and a real project for real customer.

 You need to achieve a minimum of 65% on the final exam to pass the course.

 a Diploma Certificate of course completion will be mailed 4-6 weeks later.

All students are expected to work at a high level of independence, be self-motivated, respect peers and instructors, and participate in the opportunities that the Craft and Art Education department of New Image College offer.

Course 1. Art History

This online course is #1 of 6 Required Core courses  in our Diploma program.
Course Outline:
This Art History course explores the history of Western art up to the late 1800s while focusing on key periods and styles. Develop an aesthetic appreciation and understanding of art and artifacts through lectures, slides, videos, and hands-on projects. This history of art course also looks at how (at various times) creativity and cultural imagination has been altered or influenced by social and spiritual circumstance.

Course 2. Foundation of color. Color Theory

This online course is #2 of 6 Required Core courses in our Diploma program.
Course Outline:
The properties of colors and how they behave within color systems will be explored in both theory and assessments and exercise practices.
Color systems from real life, fine arts, and design sources will be researched, analyzed and used for course assessments.

Course 3. Composition in Visual Art

This online course is #1 of 10 in our Diploma program.
Course Outline:
Emphasis of course activity will be to enable the student to use the design process and language to reference the principles and elements of design in developing and analyzing samples of two-dimensional compositions.
A series of exercises and a project with two-dimensional elements will be completed by students.

Course 4. Color in Digital Art and Computer Graphics. Color Combinations Software

EEver wondered how designers find the perfect color combination?
They use color theory. Color theory is a practical combination of art and science that’s used to determine what colors look good together. The color wheel was invented in 1666 by Isaac Newton, who mapped the color spectrum into a circle. The color wheel is the basis of color theory because it shows the relationship between colors.
In this module, students will learn about the color wheel, color theory, and how to use it for Web Design!

8 Principles of Good Website Design.
The success of any website entirely depends on how its web design is. Learn these principles to help make your website the best design it can be. Our Principles of Design course teaches you design principles and fundamental page layout techniques. Hands-on assignments do not use a computer but do help you enhance your visual exploration and critical thinking skills. This design course provides the foundation from which you can develop effective problem-solving skills.
Course 6. What is craft and types of craft?

This online course is #6 of 6 in our Diploma program.
Course Outline: What is craft and types of craft?

Crafting includes a variety of art forms, from sculpture and metalwork to knitting and printing. These crafts can all be divided into five basic types based on their form and purpose: textile, decorative, paper, functional,  fashion crafts…These and other types of craft, as well as many practical exercises for mastering these techniques, students will learn in this course.
Course 7. Drawing & Sketching Intro.

This online course is #7 of 12 in our Diploma program.
Course Outline:

Drawing & Sketching. This program gives our students a solid foundation for drawing still-life and compositions. Students will be taught the basics of sketching and drawing, proportions theory, shading and the effective use of light and shadow. They will learn all the artistic skills needed to bring to life various compositions from their own imagination and they will learn how to teach kids how to use these techniques. Students will also learn to use a wide variety of media: pencils, charcoal, and pastels.

Course 8. Teaching Craft to Preschoolers (2-5 yrs).

This online course is #8 of 12 in our Diploma program.
Course Outline:
Between their second and third birthdays, children begin to pay attention to print, such as the letters in their names. They also begin to distinguish between drawing and writing and start to scribble on paper, making some marks that are like letters. Two and three-year-olds require activities to help them develop hand coordination (for example, by holding crayons and pencils, putting together puzzles or stringing large beads).
By their 3rd and 4th birthdays, children have greater small-muscle control than toddlers, which is reflected in their drawings and scribbles. They can match and sort things that are alike and unalike, recognize and print and can “write,” or scribble messages.

Course 9. Painting tools and techniques.

Introduction to painting techniques

This program introduces gouache and acrylics and lets students to explore and experiment with a wide variety of painting mediums and techniques. The fundamentals of colour principles are introduced: colour theory and perception, colour contrasts, techniques of mixing colours, and the best way to utilize colour in order to enhance students artwork.

Course 10. Drawing Advanced.

This online course is #10 of 12 in our Diploma program.

Course Outline:

Drawing Advanced

D rawing Advanced. Learn how to analyze what you see in the world around you and communicate it on paper. Through hands-on projects, and guided by a professional artist, you will explore the critical concepts of line, mass, form, perspective, value, and composition, building a solid foundation for all your art and design work. And most importantly, you’ll also discover that drawing can be fun. Did you know that spheres have inner edges? Or why artists measure with their thumbs? Grab your charcoal and chalk pastels… this course is your first step to developing your craft as an artist.

Course 11. Primary grade children (K-2; ages 5-8yrs)

This online course is #11 of 12 in our Diploma program.

Course Outline:

Teaching Craft to Kindergarten to Grade 2 primary grade children (K-2; ages 5-8yrs) are beginning to understand that art is a way to communicate. They consciously create symbols and their pictures feature bold, direct and flat images. There is little detail shown to realistic, spatial concepts. They are eager to share their art with others. Our students will learn the features of working with this age group and special craft techniques that are most suitable for this age.

Course 12. Art-Based Pedagogie

This online course is #12 of 12 in our Diploma program.
