The purpose of this program is to introduce students to the theory and practice of TEACHING FASHION AND COSTUME DESIGN FOR CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS with emphasis on history of fashion, fashion drawing and scething, fashion model drawing and digital tools in fashio and costume design. 

This program is for everyone who loves children, loves art, drawing, painting and all related areas and interesting in Digital Art and pedagogy. 

This program is also for people who dream about educational business and who want to open their own Art School for kids, for example, and work with children as an artist and  Art Educator.
But especially this program will be perfect business ideas for moms who dream of becoming a woman in business and work with kids.

Through this 1-2 year* Diploma Program Teaching the Visual Arts” students will be introduce to fundamental art skills and sensitivities, developmental aspects of visual art education, and pedagogic relating to Visual art  education.

Along with theoretical and technical knowledge in the field of drawing, painting, and composition, students will receive solid knowledge in the field of teaching the fine arts of children and adolescents.

After successful completion of all of these courses, a student will receive a diploma as an Artist in the area of traditional Visual Art and as an Art Educator in the field of Traditional Visual art.

Payment method

Payment method can be selected during filling up your online registration form.

Students pay for courses before the start of each quarter. If your fees are not paid one week prior to the course start, you will have a hold placed on your account and therefore will not be able to continue the course.

Course projects and final course test

  After studying the materials of each course, such as articles, video tutorials, audio podcasts and successfully completing practical projects, each student must pass a theoretical multiple-choice test.

Students suppose to achieve a minimum of 65% to pass the course test.

The final diploma program exam

Students  have to take all 12 courses to get a Diploma.

The final diploma program exam is an open-book, multiple-choice test and a real project for real customer.

 You need to achieve a minimum of 65% on the final exam to pass the course.

 a Diploma Certificate of course completion will be mailed 4-6 weeks later.

 All students are expected to work at a high level of independence, be self-motivated, respect peers and instructors, and participate in the opportunities that the Visual Art Education department of New Image College offer.

Course Outline:

In this fashion history course, students will discover the key moments in fashion history and theory over 200 years from the French Revolution through to the 1990s.

The course includes:

  • The 19th-century corseted hourglass figure to the birth of haute couture
  • The modernist look of the flapper to 1930s Hollywood-inspired bias-cut glamour
  • Austere 1940s fashion history and the post-war romance of Dior’s New Look
  • The explosion of youth culture and the legacy of street style
  • Exploration of the cyclical nature of styles in culture and fashion history
  • Extravagant 18th-century court fashions and the politics of clothing during the Revolution

Course 2. Foundation of color. Color Theory

This online course is #2 of 6 Required Core courses in our Diploma program.
Course Outline:
The properties of colors and how they behave within color systems will be explored in both theory and assessments and exercise practices.
Color systems from real life, fine arts, and design sources will be researched, analyzed and used for course assessments.

Course 3. Composition in Visual Art

This online course is #1 of 10 in our Diploma program.
Course Outline:
Emphasis of course activity will be to enable the student to use the design process and language to reference the principles and elements of design in developing and analyzing samples of two-dimensional compositions.
A series of exercises and a project with two-dimensional elements will be completed by students.

Course 4. Drawing Fundamentals for Fashion design

This online course is #4 of 10 in our Diploma program.
Course Outline:

Our Drawing Fundamentals for fashion design course is an introduction to structure, form, and tone using the human figure. This drawing course explores both traditional and alternative media, drawing styles, techniques, and materials. A series of exercises help you learn classical drawing principles and basic structure and anatomy. Build on that knowledge by learning perspective drawing, shading techniques, and contour drawing as well as the techniques used in line art, fashion scathing and drawing, fashion painting techniques.

Course 5. Model Drawing for Fashion Design. Fashion Design Portfolio introduction

Course Outline:

This online course is #5 of 10 in our Diploma program.
Course Outline: Introduction to model drawing with wet media such as inks, watercolor, and others. Course topics provide the platform for line, value and preliminary color studies using wet media: contour types, gesture, controlled, expressive, texture generations, etc.

Course Objectives:
Students are given the opportunity to:
• use transparent watercolor media to achieve a variety of effects in the model drawing.
• use color mixing to achieve local color.
• work with the varied fashion design and costume design subject matter.
• utilize Elements of Design (line, shape, space, texture, volume, color) and Principles
of Design (balance, emphasis, proportion, rhythm, unity, variety) in compositions.
• view and discuss traditional and contemporary works of famous fashion designers.
• demonstrate good studio working habits.
• present their completed fashion and costume design project in a professional manner.

Course 6. An Introduction to Fashion Design and Garment Construction

This online course is #6 of 6 in our Diploma program.
Course Outline:
Students learn how to create their own designs from conception to construction. After an introduction to Fashion Design and Illustration, students create Mood Boards ( The Purpose of Mood Boards. A mood board is a way to collect different creative information in order to prepare for a new project. It is a segue between initial thoughts or meeting and the first draft of your project) and will learn how to sketch their own fashion garments. Then students will learn how to cut & construct their designs with guidance on basic sewing and fabric & trim selection.

Course 7. Accessory design

This online course is #7 of 12 in our Diploma program.
Course Outline:

What is an Accessory design?

Accessory Design

BBe like Lulu Guinness and design unique bags and purses, or how about making fancy Fascinators fit for the ‘Races’? Belts, Anklets and Wristlets and more as students delve into the delicious world of accessories. Students will select the accessory of their choice and after sketching and selecting materials, go to work creating a fun, fabulous, unique accessory.
Course 8. Intermediate Fashion Design & Special Technigues

This online course is #8 of 12 in our Diploma program.

Course Outline:

Intermediate Fashion Design & Special Techniques

FThis course includes a more advanced level, with fashion illustration, mood boards, pattern cutting, textile study, special techniques & embellishments, sewing techniques and more. Students will learn how to cut and stitch their favorite designs into a garment and learn how to list the ’step by step’ instructions.

Course 10. Pattern Making for Fashion design

This online course is #9 of 12 in our Diploma program.

Course Outline:

What is Pattern Making?

Pattern making is essential in learning in Fashion Design and how garments are created and put together.  A  fashion designer or fashion design instructor must learn pattern making in order to really understand the construction of fashion designs.

In this course students will learn:

  • Basic Principles of pattern-making such as Dart Manipulation and Added Fullness and Contour.
  • Students will learn techniques such as Pivoting and Slash-and-Spread.
  • New terminology such as Slopers and Blocks and Darts, Pleats, Tucks, Yokes, Princess Seams, Shirring, Apex, Notches.
  • Where pattern comes from draping muslin bodice on a dress form.
  • Drafting Princess Seams.
  • Drafting an A-Line skirt.
  • Drafting Skirt Yokes and adding fullness to skirt.
  • Grainlines and Pattern Labeling.
Course 11. Cutting for Sewing and Sewing Techniques

This online course is #11 of 12 in our Diploma program.

Course Outline:

Cutting for Sewing Techniques

Module 1. Aim of this module:
To make students understand different cutting techniques according to different materials which will be beneficial for home-based and industry. Introduction to cutting tools home-based and industrial for woven, knitwear and leather.
– Importance of grain line while cutting woven, knitwear and leather. Proper pressing techniques before cutting.

Aim of this module:
– Introduction to the sewing machine, home-based and industrial. Threading of lock stitch, Flatlock, and overlock machine.
– To make students understand different sewing methods while working with different machines/equipment (which can be home-based or industrial) and fabrics that require special handling and care.

Course 12. Art-Based Pedagogie

What is Creative Arts-Based Pedagogie?

Pedagogy requires meaningful classroom interactions and respect between educators and learners.
