This course provides an introduction to the language of the visual arts and a foundation for individual understanding and enjoyment of art. This course will focus on different types of Art materials and Techniques.
Course Outline:
This Art History course explores the history of Western art up to the late 1800s while focusing on key periods and styles. Develop an aesthetic appreciation and understanding of art and artifacts through lectures, slides, videos, and hands-on projects. This history of art course also looks at how (at various times) creativity and cultural imagination has been altered or influenced by social and spiritual circumstance.

Course Outline:
Emphasis of course activity will be to enable the student to use the design process and language to reference the principles and elements of design in developing and analyzing samples of two-dimensional compositions.
A series of exercises and a project with two-dimensional elements will be completed by students.

The properties of colors and how they behave within color systems will be explored in both theory and assessments and exercise practices.
Color systems from real life, fine arts, and design sources will be researched, analyzed and used for course assessments.

Course Outline:
Our Drawing Fundamentals course is an introduction to structure, form, and tone using the human figure. This drawing course explores both traditional and alternative media, drawing styles, techniques, and materials. A series of exercises help you learn classical drawing principles and basic structure and anatomy. Build on that knowledge by learning perspective drawing, shading techniques, and contour drawing as well as the techniques used in line art, illustrative and commercial rendering.

Course Outline: Introduction to wet media such as inks, watercolor and others. Course topics provide the platform for line, value and preliminary color studies using wet media: contour types, gesture, controlled, expressive, texture generations etc.
Course Objectives:
Students are given the opportunity to:
• use transparent watercolor media to achieve a variety of effects.
• use color mixing to achieve local color.
• work with the varied subject matter.
• utilize Elements of Design (line, shape, space, texture, volume, color) and Principles
of Design (balance, emphasis, proportion, rhythm, unity, variety) in compositions.
• view and discuss traditional and contemporary works in watercolor.
• demonstrate good studio working habits.
• present their completed work in a professional manner.

What is Human Anatomy?
Human anatomy is the study of the bones, joints, muscles, and systems of the human body. Human anatomy focuses on the structures of the body and the standard naming and definition of physical properties.
Without an understanding of anatomy, your drawings will always feel like there’s something wrong. They won’t have that level of detail that you’ll see in a pro’s work. After this course, you won’t need to guess what all those bumps are. We’ll teach you all the anatomy you need to draw the forms accurately and make them look like real people!
