What color to choose for next project?
This question sounds familiar for amateurs and professionals and answers can be as varied as the color spectrum is. At the same time, a correct choice depends upon many factors, like the theme, the content of the project and even the project’s target audience. Planning a harmonious design begins with the investigation, and understanding, of color relationships.

Color Scheme (otherwise known as a Color Harmony ) - this is combination of colors that can be chosen from different parts of the spectrum, but must have strong visual balance and is able to make certain impact on a viewer. Color relationship can be displayed as a color wheel or a
color triangle.

According to the Color Theory, harmonious are:

. any two colors located opposite on the color wheel
. any three colors equally spaced from each other on the color wheel
. any four colors that forms a rectangle withing a color wheel

Harmonious colors keep their relationship even when the angle of their location within color
wheel is changed. Color wheel can be divided into ranges that are visually active or passive.
Here is some trivia of all that is said above: “All colors are the friends of their neighbors and the
lovers of their opposites”.

Keep in mind:
To check the visual contrast between color combinations in your final form or composition,
including text based layout, convert an image to Grayscale mode (Image>Mode>Grayscale). If
you are not satisfied with how your image looks, try to choose another hues within the family or,
better yet, change color combinations.
