If your goal is to design anything, you can’t
do without a basic knowledge of color fundamentals. It’s
obvious, any intelligent person is in need of this knowledge.
Surprisedly, 80% of the world’s information we receive
is through color. Just pay close attention and be observant:
color has many tints and shades...

Having the knowledge to mix colors and put colors in a way
that is right for your artwork is as
important for graphic or artist , as being competent with
a brush or composition structure. The
chart Color Theory
will introduce you to color basics - hue, intensity, brightness
or luminosity
and will help you to understand primary and secondary colors
also.

You might know that color is present all around you. First,
the sources (sun, electric lights,
monitors and TV’s screens, etc.) radiate light at different
wavelengths which
are perceived by eye as colored light. Hitting a nonluminous
object, the light is partially absorbed,
and partially is reflected back to the viewer. We perceive
this reflected wavelengths as an object’s
coloration. Therefore, color of the object is the result of
radiation or reflection. Description of the
object’s color in both cases is different, in other
words, different Color Modes
are used.

Everybody has his favorite color or several of them. In this
chapter you can find out that color that
matches you is an element of art (like value, shape, line,
form, texture and space), that, along with
the principles of Design, help you create art and talk about
art. Let’s look closely at Color
Harmony as a way to successfully use color.

|
There is no specific “right”color around you.
To create killer-designs and layouts, you must make
your choice of color, it’s tints and color scheme that
would reflect not only the company/firm’s
name, but its specific character, history, geographical location,
etc. The chapter The Influence
of
Color might be helpful to determine what psychological
influence color can have and what
composition effect color can produce.
